I didn't like the first mower I bought... I used it 1x on about 1/2 of my yard. It was heavy & hard to maneuver & had a couple of quality issues. Lawn mowing is a pain in the ass as it is. You don't want your mower making it worse. So, I cleaned it up, boxed it back up & returned it.
And then I bought a reel mower.
It's what I wanted to begin with but I thought my lawn was too big for it. I have a 1/4 acre lot... but then I started looking around & thinking about it. At least 1/4 of the lot is taken up w/house, garage, driveway, patio, existed landscaping. And the future landscaping I have planned would bring that down another 1/4. So now we're talking 1/8 acre tops. I think I can handle that. Reel mowers are remarkably easy to use, require no energy consumption (expect human, of course), they're quiet, they're safer and the only maintenance is getting the blades sharpened about 1x a year. Sure it will take me longer to mow but whatever, I need the workout.
And it cost $300 less than the other mower. All-around win.
:D
I've been eying these cutie shoes for months... finally redeemed a reward certificate and soon they shall be mine.
I love these little bamboo herb kits from the nybg shop. I love a lot of things that are out of my price range, I've noticed. :D
Yeah, I'm gonna write about something really exciting now! Lawn equipment! Woohoo!
Turns out, when you buy a house with a yard, you have to do this thing called "mowing the lawn." My ninja neighbor (the one I've never seen) has a lawn service & therefore, her lawn has already been mowed. Twice. So I thought I should get on it already...
Here's what I chose: Ryobi 48 volt self propelled cordless mower
It's cute, right? For a lawn mower anyway. It's not red or lawn mower green. It's neon green! Hee. I really just wanted something that wouldn't require gas & would run over some leaves in the fall. This fits both those criteria plus it's self-propelled & the battery removes so I can charge it in the kitchen until I get an outlet installed in the garage.
I also picked up a cordless Ryobi weed whacker or "Trimmer" as the kids are calling it today.
There you have it... tonight I'm gonna mow the lawn.
I bought a light. Here it is (it's the bigger one of the three):
I'd been eying it all week in Gilt Groupe's sale previews. When noon rolled around, I went to check it out. It certainly looks cool (to me). $82 (originally $166) is under my $100 limit. It's made of recycled plastic. And it supposedly "imitates the natural beauty of a honeycomb." Hmmm. I put it in my shopping cart. Then I freaked out, took it out & walked away from the computer. Then I walked around my house & realized there were 3 other spots I could put it in if I don't like it in my kitchen. So I went back to the computer & bought it up. Haha. I'm weird.:D
I'm planning a little firepit area, pretty much just like this, in my backyard. I was thinking some adirondack chairs (which for some reason i pronounce air-on-dack... drrr) would look cool & I love this CB2 version. Alas, I do not love the $249 per chair price tag. So I'll keep looking for my chairs.
Meantime, I'm also eying that firepit... wonder where I can find one like that.
UPDATE: It turns out the firepit is cb2 too. Also out of my price range. Oh well.
I promised my dog I would buy him a big ol' rug to make up for tearing up the carpet. I can't afford this one but, damn, it's pretty.
